Biography
Not following the rules and making original sounds from the heart is what describes Washington DC’s very own DJ and producer Dave Cortex. Subconsciously influenced by moody, emotive and electronic funk sounds of Michael Jackson’s Thriller album at the age of 5, Dave got into DJing in the late 90’s and began his journey into the world of electronic music.
For over a decade he has been rocking the crowds in the biggest clubs of Washington DC, New York, San Francisco, Miami and other major US cities. Having mastered the art of DJing, Dave dedicated more time in the studio beginning from the mid 2000’s.
As a result, a number of quality tracks - “Coming Back to Life”, “Highway/Tuneage”, “Sylph” and "Something Good - Loop (Dave Cortex Remix)” were released which gained a widespread support from the veterans of electronic music industry such as Dirty Vegas and Groove Armada. His prime remixes for Max Vangeli, Lazy Rich, Swanky Tunes and Thomas Penton brought him an earned recognition as a skilled remixer.
His musical style incorporates groove-focused, upbeat elements of funk and disco, melodic elements and moody atmospherics of progressive house, deeper and darker elements of tech house which results in a unique and stylish crossover sound.
"Following the trend is simply uninspiring" says Dave and bringing out his unique sound is what has been the focus of all his productions so far. His current plans include collaboration with other artists such as Josh Harnois to introduce live instruments to his tracks and continue delivering quality sounds from heart.
